Art and Health Connection

Art and Mental Health

Today, let’s take a closer look at the connection between art and our health. As we mentioned in our previous blog post (which you can check out here), the first cave paintings date back over 30,000 years. As a species we have always been creating, whether out of necessity or seemingly just for the sake of it. This need to create is so ingrained in our DNA as humans that perhaps we don’t always stop to think about why that is. A lot of research in the medical field has actually suggested that art — and, more specifically, being creative — is, in fact, quite useful for our mental and physical well-being. Art doesn’t have to mean painting, it can be any creative expression, such as writing or dance. This art, or creative expression, can improve both your mental and your physical health. We found this informative article by Medical News Today that talks more about the studies that have been done in the medical field to prove this art and health connection.
